Dangerous heat this week – NBC Boston

Monday looks to be the coolest day of the next five, and Monday morning will have the coolest temperatures in the upper 50s and low 60s for the next ten days. Afternoon temperatures will climb into the low 80s with a mix of sun and clouds.

Highs Tuesday through Friday will be in the 90s, likely sending southern and inland New England into a heat wave on Thursday, the third straight day of 90 degrees.

Thursday will also be the warmest of the week at 98 degrees. Temperatures will feel above 100 degrees when you factor in humidity, especially inland.

Greater Boston and the Merrimack Valley are under an excessive heat warning ahead of this heat wave.

It is recommended to avoid long periods outdoors and/or strenuous activities during the peak afternoon heat. Evenings and mornings will still be sticky and warmer, with lows in the 70s.

Rain chances remain low through Thursday. Then there is a chance of an isolated thunderstorm from Friday to Monday.
