Wilfrid AREL Obituary – East Hartford, Tolland, CT

AREL, Wilfrid E. Wilfrid E. Arel, 85, widower of June (Wallace) Arel, passed away with family by his side on August 25, 2012 in Woodlake of Tolland, Tolland. He was born on December 4, 1926 in Claremont, NH to Adelard and Mary-Jane (Petrin) Arel, where he grew up as the youngest of eight children. He proudly served his country in the United States Navy during World War II. After the war he moved to East Hartford where he met his beloved wife June Wallace. Wil worked at Scully Mfg. in E. Hartford and later became a partner at Aerex Mfg. in Manchester, where he worked until his retirement. After the death of his beloved June, he moved to Bradenton, Florida, where he enjoyed riding his Harley. With a group of great friends, he took road trips to Mexico and Alaska and drove the famous Deals Gap until ill health brought him back to family in Connecticut in 2010. Wil and June had no children of their own, but he was a very special uncle to him. his numerous nieces and nephews. He had a quick smile, quick wit, a big heart and a sense of adventure that will always be cherished by those who knew him. He leaves to mourn him, a sister, Lucia Gilbert; and a sister-in-law Dorothy Arel of Claremont, NH; his cousins ​​all over the East Coast; and many friends and extended family. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, September 1, 2012 at St. Bernard Church, 25 St. Bernard Terrace, Rockville, CT. A private funeral will take place at the convenience of the family. There will be no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Wil’s name to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, PO Box 50, Memphis, TN, 38101-9929.
