Robert Ford MacVean Robert Ford MacVean, 80, passed away early in the morning of Thursday, June 13, 2024, at home, with his loving family watching over him.

He was born May 4, 1944, in Johnstown, the son of Robert R. and Helen Betty Handy MacVean, and graduated from Johnstown High School in 1962. Robert grew up on the family farm and continued to be a part of the farm after graduation. He was a lifelong farmer who loved what he did and in 1992 he was awarded the Farmer of the Year Award by the Fulton County Soil and Water Conservation District.

Robert and his wife Mary were married on August 21, 1977 and spent 44 loving years together. They loved to dance and were members of a square dance club. He left this earth to dance with his loving wife Mary, who passed away on September 24, 2021.

Robert is survived by five children, Lara MacVean of Montgomery, AL, Karen Palmateer-Murcray, Judith Gotobed ​​and Robert LaMont, all of Johnstown, and Harry LaMont III of Florence, SC; two sisters, Eileen Pelosi of Caroga Lake and Nancy MacVean of Flagler Beach, FL; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-grandchildren; an aunt; two cousins; and several cousins.

Cremation took place at Park View Crematorium, Schenectady. A celebration of Robert’s life will be held at the family home on Sunday, June 23, 2024 at 1:00 PM. Arrangements are under the care of Robert M. Halgas Funeral Home, Inc., Johnstown.
