Red Sox break 110-year-old franchise record in Sunday night’s game against Yankees

The Boston Red Sox took on the New York Yankees on Sunday night at Fenway Park and Alex Cora’s team did something no Red Sox team had done in more than 80 years.

On Sunday, Boston stole nine bases against the Yankees, breaking the franchise record for stolen bases in a game. The previous record of eight in a game happened twice in two games against the Philadelphia Athletics in 1913 and 1940.

The Red Sox got stolen bases from Dominic Smith, Bobby Dalbec, Jarren Duran (two), David Hamilton (four) and Ceddane Rafaela.

Boston used their athleticism to rack up extra bases all night long, leading to a five-run lead in the eighth inning.
