Springfield: Cooling centers should be available ahead of a possible heat wave

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – The city of Springfield plans to open pools and cooling centers in anticipation of warm weather arriving this week.

The indoor pools at German Gerena School and Kiley Middle School will open at noon on Monday, June 17. And Forest Park’s outdoor pool opens at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, June 19.

Other cooling centers open in the city from June 18 to 21 include:

  • Raymond A. Jordan Senior Center from noon to 6 p.m
  • Hungry Hill Senior Center from noon to 6 p.m
  • North End Senior Center from noon to 6 p.m
