Concordia grad Brooks heading to Olympic swimming trials

INDIANAPOLIS (WANE) – This coming week, Indianapolis is making ripples as the nation’s best swimmers compete in the U.S. Olympic Trials.

Fort Wayne is well represented in the Circle City. A trio of Indiana Hoosiers with ties to Summit City qualified to meet Finn Brooks, Tristan and Mya DeWitt at Lucas Oil Stadium.

Brooks, a graduate of Concordia High School, is coming off his junior season in Bloomington. The Fort Wayne native qualified for the 100-meter butterfly after strong performances last summer at the TYR Pro Championships and Phillips 66 USA National Championships.

While Brooks enjoys his first Olympic qualifying experience, the Concordia student is aiming to reach the 100-meter butterfly final in Indianapolis. Thanks to the help of his teammates in Bloomington, Brooks feels mentally locked in to tackle the biggest stage of the young swimmer’s career.

Brooks will compete in the 100-meter butterfly next Friday in Indianapolis. The trials run from Saturday to Sunday, June 23 at Lucas Oil Stadium.
