CARICOM governments receive special rum blends to mark the 50th anniversary celebrations

The governments of the Caribbean Community (CARICOM) will receive specially developed rum blends to mark CARICOM’s 50e Birthday. The idea behind it is to honor the contributions and achievements of the communities over the past 50 years.

The CARICOM Member State Administration will receive the rum produced by thirteen Rum Producers from the Caribbean Community who are also members of the West Indies Rum and Spirits Producers Association (WIRSPA).

WIRSPA has shared that they plan to host the presentation ceremonies for the governments where they are located in July.

This gesture by the rum industry is part of the celebration of the year 50e Birthday of CARICOM.

The thirteen distillers taking part in crafting a special rum blend for CARICOM’s half-century celebration are:

  • Mount Gay Distilleries (Barbados)
  • Demerara Distillers (Guyana)
  • Surinamese alcoholic drinks (Suriname)
  • Angostura (Trinidad and Tobago)
  • West Indian Rum Distillery (Barbados)
  • Saint Lucia Distillers (Saint Lucia)
  • Belfast Estate – Dominica (Dominica)
  • Antigua Distillery (Antigua)
  • Grenada Distillers (Grenada)
  • Travelers liqueurs (Belize)
  • Watlings Distillery (Bahamas)
  • National Rum of Jamaica (Jamaica)
  • Vincent and the Grenadines Distillers (St. Vincent and the Grenadines)

Saint Lucia Distillers have become the first WIRSPA member to present the rum blend to CARICOM. Prime Minister of Saint Lucia Philip J. Pierre presented the CARICOM 50e Anniversary Rumble from the Saint Lucia Distillers Group to Mohamed Irfaan Alli, President of Guyana and Chairman of the Caribbean Community (CARICOM).

The products mixed for this historic occasion will be distributed to the government. Some of it will be for sale on local markets, so that residents can also enjoy this special product.

Few of the special edition rums are produced specifically for this purpose and will be available in limited quantities.
