News broke Thursday afternoon that the SF Giants mascot will be headed to the Mascot Hall of Fame in the class of 2024. Lou Seal will be the second MLB mascot inducted this year (Orbit of the Houston Astros) and the fourth overall mascot in the 2024 class.

Lou Seal of the SF Giants has been the team’s primary mascot since the 1997 season and was first introduced in 1996. His full name is Luigi Francisco Seal, a tribute to the Bay Area’s ocean creatures. He also references the San Francisco Seals, the ball club of the Pacific Coast League from 1903 to 1957.
