#5 Drew Kibler of the 400 free preliminaries (scratch cards on day 1)

2024 US Olympic Trials

Drew Kibler is one of 400 free on the first day of US Trials. Kibler saw some big drops in the event this season after switching his training base to ASU, clocking a 3:47.58, which ranked him 5th on the psychological markers. He still has the 50, 100 and 200 free on his schedule, but his potential in the 400 was intriguing after such a big drop this season.

The men’s 400 free has the most scratches for tomorrow: 13th seed Luca Urlando is out, as well Alec Enyeart (21st), Baylor Nelson (47e), and Ivan Pushkovych (57th).

In the 400 free ladies there are no scratches. 2nd seed Bella Sims appears to be all in as she dropped her other event one day, the 100 fly where she placed 49th. We expect Sims to drop even more events as the week progresses, as she has competed in all 11 events she has qualified for.

There are no scratches on the men’s 100 chest.
