Gravity Mountain Bike Trails Open at Wheaton Regional Park

Wheaton Regional Park is launching two mountain bike trails. Gravity Mountain Bike Park opens July 21. Montgomery Parks hopes the new park will attract adventure-seeking bikers and riders.

The addition was first proposed in the 2022 update to the Wheaton Regional Park Master Plan. The goal: to improve the park for residents and the surrounding community over the next two decades.

The park features two courses designed for moderately experienced riders. An intermediate green course will feature dirt berms, tabletops, and rollers, while a more advanced blue course will feature a launch pad, jump sections, and wooden berm turns.

“This new bike park is a great place for adventurous riders to hone their skills on challenging terrain. Once riders start the trail, it’s all downhill with multiple challenges to conquer,” said Bob Turnbull, program manager for Montgomery Parks Natural Surface Trails, in a press release. “We encourage riders to start with the Green Trail and work their way up to the Blue Trail.”

An Action Sports Park for Wheaton Regional Park’s Rubini Complex is also in the early stages of design, according to a press release from Montgomery Parks. The complex will include a skate park, pump track and climbing wall.

“This bike skills park is one of the first new projects at Wheaton Regional Park to come out of the recent master plan update,” said Montgomery Parks Director Miti Figueredo. “We hope people have a great time with their friends and that we can secure funding in the coming years to continue with more of these improvements, including the Action Sports Park.”
